When you are part of sales team in a healthcare company , you will be most probably involved in selling healthcare and medical equipment. Again, as a part of sales process, you will be solving customers problems and providing solutions to them.
In healthcare sales, you will be working in collaboration with the technical department which will be manufacturing the products. You will help in bringing positive changes in customer’s processes which will help them reduce their cost and increase their efficiency.
Like other sales jobs, healthcare sales job is also fast paced and sales professionals have to thrive against all odds and competition. You have to achieve your targets which could be quarterly or monthly, which varies from company to company. You would be responsible for selling company’s products in front of health practitioners. You would also be involved in making brand strategies and build trust among your customers.
You will be needed to do accurate reporting in sales funnel for further study by top management. Also, you need to analyse the current market conditions and report to management regarding this.
Initially, you will start your career as medical sales representative. Then you will grow to managerial positions and regional managerial positions and then finally to national sales manager positions. As you grow up in ladder, your sales incentives will reduce and your basic salary will increase. You will find many sales managers earning more than regional sales managers and national sales managers because they achieve 300% of their sales targets and get 3 times their CTC.
You should have sound working knowledge of MS Excel and you should also have good communication skills and negotiation skills. As a sales professional, you will be mostly working on field with very minimum supervision, so you need to be self disciplined in order to achieve your sales quotas. You can start your career as medical representative with minimum of a bachelors degree but full time MBA degree will be an added advantage and it will help in long run.
